About the author: Karen Klausner Chute
Karen, a native Southern Californian, was born July 1952. She first showed her interest in "showbiz" at the age of four. Memorizing television commercials, she would perform them on request. At the age of five, the actor, James Cagney told her mother to put her in the movies. His advice was not heeded and when Karen was eleven, she started writing letters to talent agencies obtaining interviews for herself.
Having a stay-at-home mom and a longshoreman for a father, her career goal was not on their list of practical occupations. So Karen’s parents quickly curbed her access to postage stamps.
Karen was uprooted at the beginning of her high school year, dragging and kicking, to Oregon. It was in her senior year that the culture shock of her new surroundings wore off and she pursued her entertainment interests again. The urges were strong, but the availability for expression in the small town was nil. So from silk-screening the posters that announced a local theatre would begin, to obtaining local business and government support, she founded a community theatre. She served as president, and in turn publicist, producer, and director for various projects. The theatre remained very active long after her departure back to L.A.
Back "home" in Los Angeles, she began her education in theatre and music with a concentration in voice. After several theatre and civic light opera productions, she continued her education in film and television production.
Moving from acting and singing to for her now stronger interest in the physical production and promoting of television and film, she received her Bachelor of Arts degree in communications with a concentration in film and television production. Graduating cum laude she did post graduate work at UCLA.
Karen learned the entertainment industry from the ground up. Her credits include: actress, craft service, script supervisor, producer, director and writer. She worked at all the major studios and television networks in addition to a top entertainment agency.
After meeting the love of her life, Karen moved to Massachusetts where her husband David Chute, also a writer, was born and lived. After several years they decided to seek a quieter life and moved west to the high desert of Nevada, where they still experience the joy of all four seasons.Karen is presently working on several film scripts and books.
